-
Will we be provided with a computer? Can we receive more than one if we have multiple students?FCA families can qualify for one computer per household based on information provided in the Family Income Form during the enrollment process. If you use your own computer, make sure to check our minimum system requirements. Although we regularly test our educational management system, many mobile devices may not be fully compatible with third-party curriculum platforms that are accessed with Pearson Online Classroom. These include: Chromebook, iPad, iPhone, Kindle, and Android phones and tablets.

Will we be provided with a printer or scanner? No. FCA families are responsible for providing their own printer and scanner. Scanner apps can also be downloaded for free on your smartphone or tablet.

How do I help my child with their schoolwork?Caretaker involvement is crucial at every grade level at FCA. There are numerous resources on Learning Coach Central if you need help with getting started.

Does Connections Academy provide services and accommodations for students with disabilities? If the student’s needs can be met in the virtual environment and the student meets the profile for success in this educational delivery context and comparable special education services are able to be provided, the FCA will provide FAPE to the student, which includes services comparable to those described in the student’s IEP from the previous school, until the IEP team is able to hold an IEP meeting to develop the student’s initial Hillsborough IEP. Students with IEPs qualify to receive specially designed instruction and may also receive related services. Due to the virtual nature of the school, the services are provided virtually over the internet with real-time conferencing software. The IEP team ensures the services are provided in compliance with the IEP. For more information specific to Special Education services, please see section 7.1 in the FCA Handbook.
